I switched SD cards and shot a series of images earlier this evening. This utility does not work if camera counter has been reset. Thanks, it works for me and the result is plausible.ĭoes anyone know for how many shutter actions the camera is rated? Would this be somehow corrected by the computer, or do you have to save each image as a unique number when asked? If you then have multiple images with the same # then I wonder if this would cause an issue when saving multiple TIFF files with the same #. The only way to know which would be which then would be based upon the date that the images were taken. If that is the case, then you would expect to have the the same ID numbers several times as you are using different memory cards. OK, That makes some sense since I keep using the same card after I clear it. Changing SD cards led to vastly different numbers. The file number has to do with the SD card you load - I have early pics from my A7 that are DCS09599 etc. I think those are the only zooms available in A or E that give that much coverage. If her only complaint about the A-mount was the size, then that should fit the bill. There's the e-mount version of the lens: Sony E 18-200 at Amazon Here's a website with a shutter count tool for Sony: Any suggestions? Doesn't have to be full-frame. The A-mount 18-200 with LA-EA4 adapter is "too heavy" but she likes the long zoom. ![]() Next question: SWMBO (SheWhoMustBeObeyed) caught a glimpse of the camera and is asking about compact zoom lenses. That is if and when you delete an image that has been shot and if that/those images are not removed from the count. For myself, I do not reset the camera, so for me, I believe for my camera, the count should be fairly accurate. I believe EXIF tool can extract the actually shutter count from the EXIF metadata attached to a RAW or JPG file from the camera, the file name method mentioned above is inaccurate and can be reset with an option in the camera menu's so is very unreliable. The numerical # is the image number of that particular photo and since that is the last image out of the camera it will/should indicate the number of photos run through the camera shutter (at least if there are no double exposures I am not sure how any double exposures would be registered for the image count). I am not sure if you can access the number directly from the camera.īut, if you load an SD card in the camera and then take an image and download the image to Sony Play Memories and/or import the image to LR you will be able to read the image # as DSCXXXXX.ARW and/or JPEG. ![]() How do I determine the number of clicks on an a7 body?
